Drobo: Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, has urged the electorate, especially first-time voters, to endorse Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming elections on December 7. She emphasized the importance of casting votes for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s 2024 flagbearer to ensure the continuation and strengthening of the Free Senior High School (FSHS) initiative, which aims to benefit more Ghanaian children.According to Ghana News Agency, Mad Owusu-Banahene described the FSHS as a transformative initiative of the government. She noted that strengthening this program is crucial for tackling Ghana's illiteracy rate. The Regional Minister shared these insights while interacting with students at Our Lady of Providence Girls' SHS in Drobo, Jaman South Municipality. Her objective was to emphasize the significance of the FSHS, encouraging students to work hard and appreciate the government's investment in their education.As a flagship government program, the FSHS has s ignificantly improved school enrolment, providing many Ghanaian children with access to free secondary education. Mad Owusu-Banahene expressed optimism that in a few years, every Ghanaian child would attain literacy. She urged eligible student voters to show their gratitude by supporting Vice President Bawumia in the upcoming election.The Regional Minister highlighted the role of quality education in national development, asserting that voting for Bawumia demonstrates not only gratitude but also a commitment to quality education. She emphasized that a literate society is key to eliminating conflicts and poverty, while boosting job creation, innovation, and industrialization.Mad Owusu-Banahene also stressed the importance of continuity in achieving progressive and sustainable development in Ghana. She encouraged students to take part in the nation's growth by supporting Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, whom she described as a visionary leader with high integrity. Additionally, she highlighted the government's focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education as a strategic approach to advance the fourth industrial revolution.
