Winneba: Rev Atta Mensah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu, has led a clean-up exercise in Winneba to enhance the sanitation situation in the coastal city. The exercise was intended to keep the city clean, protect the environment, and improve the state of public health.
According to Ghana News Agency, residents desilted drainage systems, weeded, and swept areas in and around the Winneba traffic light, the Abasaaba community, Municipal Immigration Service office, and the Department of Physical Planning. Officers of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, security agencies, traditional leaders, and waste management service providers, among other stakeholders, also participated in the exercise, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the sanitation standards in the Municipality.
The MCE encouraged residents to embrace cleanliness, indicating that maintaining a clean and healthy environment was a shared responsibility. “We are reintroducing regular clean-up exercises in the Municipality, and that aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda. I urge everyone living in Effutu to join the crusade to fix our sanitation challenges as your contribution to the government’s efforts at improving sanitation in the country,” he said.
Rev Mensah pledged his commitment to leading the agenda for a clean Municipality, cautioning that sanitation by-laws would be strictly enforced. The MCE assured that his administration would work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including traditional leaders and religious groups, to foster a culture of cleanliness among the people.
