Diaspora Africa Forum Pledges 20 Scholarships for Youth Empowerment in Ghana

Accra: The Diaspora Africa Forum (DAF) has committed to supporting Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman by offering 20 scholarships focused on skills development and entrepreneurship for young women. Dr. Erieka Bennett, the founder of DAF, announced this initiative during a meeting with the Vice President, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to youth empowerment in Ghana.



According to Ghana News Agency, the scholarships will be facilitated through the DAF Youth Empowerment and Training Centre (DAFYETC), which has pledged to collaborate closely with the Vice President’s office. Dr. Bennett, during the visit, led a high-level delegation of female ambassadors in Ghana, including Ms. Imane Ouaadil, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco and Dean of Women Ambassadors in Ghana. The delegation’s visit aimed to establish a foundation for mutual collaboration and future support, particularly in youth empowerment and digital inclusion.



Dr. Bennett outlined the mission of DAFYETC, which focuses on equipping Ghanaian youth with essential skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance their employability. She highlighted the global importance of promoting digital inclusion and bridging the ICT skills gap, especially among young people. The centre is open to welcoming young individuals for training, aligning its efforts with global initiatives.



The delegation of female ambassadors expressed their commitment to the development and growth of Ghana, showing enthusiasm for future collaborations and mutual support. The delegation included Ms. Imane Ouaadil of Morocco, Mrs. Liliana Gomez of Peru, Ms. Juliet Bynoe-Sutherland of Barbados, Ms. Myriam Montrat of Canada, Mrs. Rosemary Mbabazi of Rwanda, Ms. Norma Ang Sanchez of Mexico, Madam Fidelia Graand-Galon of Suriname, Dr. Badreyya Al Shehhi of the United Arab Emirates, Mrs. Cecilia Obono Ndong Nchama of Equatorial Guinea, and Dr. Toni Luck, Co-Founder of DAF.
