Accra: The Circuit Court in Accra has discharged Alberta Abi Amartey and Emmanuel Anang Yemoh in a case involving their alleged role in defrauding a lawyer, Mr. Solomon Aubin, of GHS190,000.00 over land sales. This decision followed the striking out of the matter for want of prosecution.
According to Ghana News Agency, Presiding Judge Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah delivered the ruling after observing that the prosecution had failed to file the necessary processes despite earlier warnings. The third accused person, Philip Addogah, was absent from court during the proceedings.
In October 2023, Amartey and Yemoh were granted GHS150,000.00 bail each, accused of conspiring with Addogah to obtain money from Mr. Solomon Aubin under the pretext of selling six litigation-free plots at Abokobi for a church project. However, the complainant later encountered claims of ownership from the Brekusu and Akrodey families, which led to the demolition of part of a fence wall he had begun constructing.
The prosecution had earlier accused the trio of being aware that the land was under litigation before the transaction occurred.
