Accra: Mr. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, has pledged the government's continued support to businesses by creating an enabling environment for growth to make the country succeed in its economic drive. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between businesses and the government to position Ghana as the hub of African enterprise and a beacon of potential where policy meets innovation and determination.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Debrah made these remarks during his inspection of the 'THIS IS GHANA' exhibition at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park in Accra, organized by ChannelOne TV and Citi FM, Accra-based television and radio stations. He highlighted the government's recognition of small and medium-scale enterprises as the backbone of the country's economy and its commitment to policies that facilitate business growth.
"Our 24-hour economy is designed to create more opportunities, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure that Ghanaian businesses operate in an environment that matches your ambition and creativity," Mr. Debrah stated. He also noted the collaboration of key partners, such as the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Ghana EXIM Bank, and the Ghana Enterprises Agency, in supporting business growth and competition beyond local markets.
Mr. Debrah expressed a strong desire for Made-in-Ghana products to gain prominence on supermarket shelves, international markets, and homes worldwide. "Our fabrics, foods, crafts, technology solutions - all of these reflect a Ghanaian identity that is strong, unique, and world-class," he noted.
He applauded the exhibitors, stating, "You are not just showcasing products, you are showcasing Ghana's future. You are showing us that with persistence, quality, and innovation, Ghana can indeed rise to occupy its rightful place in the global market."
Mr. Sylvester Mensah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana EXIM Bank, noted in an interview that SMEs account for 70 percent of employment in the private sector, highlighting the importance of governmental support to enhance their competitive edge. He praised exhibitions like 'THIS IS GHANA' for providing SMEs with opportunities to promote Made-in-Ghana products.
"The last time I came here, some exhibitors indicated clearly that one day in an exhibition was able to provide for them what they would otherwise sell over a whole year," Mr. Mensah stated. He assured that President Mahama's reset agenda aims to ensure the progress of SMEs in Ghana, emphasizing the importance of their resilience and steadfastness in contributing to foreign exchange for the country.
The CEO assured businesses of the EXIM Bank's readiness and willingness to support their endeavors and expressed gratitude to ChannelOne TV and Citi FM for their leadership in organizing regular exhibitions.
