Chalk Talk Foundation Africa Launches ‘2025 Prodigy Examination’ to Prepare JHS Pupils for BECE

Tema: The Chalk Talk Foundation-Africa, in collaboration with the Youth Association, has launched an initiative called the '2025 Prodigy Examination' aimed at preparing final-year basic pupils for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The programme, themed 'The Dream Ghanaian Child,' seeks to identify and recognize exceptionally gifted pupils in Tema, encourage academic excellence, and nurture Ghanaian children to become confident, problem-solving, and critical-thinking communicators.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Bernice Sefakor Doviah, the School Improvement Support Officer for Tema Metro, stated that the initiative aims to nurture individuals ready to thrive and bring about change through learning. She emphasized the need for pupils to move beyond rote learning, enabling them to analyze and evaluate questions effectively.

Mrs. Doviah urged stakeholders to provide opportunities for pupils to explore and experiment with their unique ideas, advising teamwork and cultural respect due to diversity. She highlighted that digital literacy is essential, urging that students be equipped with skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

Mrs. Doviah also advised stakeholders, particularly parents and teachers, to critically monitor learners to prevent distractions. Mr. Richard Kwabena Nsarko, the Executive Director of the Chalk Talk Foundation-Africa, told the Ghana News Agency that the programme is conducted annually to adequately prepare JHS final-year pupils for their first external examination.

Mr. Nsarko stressed the importance of community collaboration with educational and non-governmental organizations to enhance education in the country. He pointed out challenges such as lack of finances and parental guidance, particularly in Tema Newton, where education is not prioritized as much as in other communities.

He encouraged parents to be actively involved in their children's education by providing educational materials, attending PTA meetings, paying school fees, and showing love. He emphasized that organizations and businesses could support children's dreams and aspirations by fulfilling their corporate social responsibilities.
