Accra: The Church of Pentecost, Anloga District, has organised a clean-up exercise at the Anloga main market as part of its 2025 environmental care campaign in the Volta Region. This initiative aims to foster a safe and clean environment to mitigate the spread of diseases.
According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor Carlmax Obeng-Boadu, the Leader and District Pastor, emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public spaces to ensure a healthy environment. He noted that the church's actions are not only enhancing the market's aesthetic appeal but also positively impacting the community's health and well-being. Pastor Obeng-Boadu highlighted the adage "cleanliness is next to godliness" as a guiding principle for the church's efforts.
The clean-up exercise provided an opportunity to educate the public on the significance of environmental cleanliness. Pastor Obeng-Boadu encouraged community members to participate in similar activities to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment. He praised the Anloga District's initiative as a testament to the church's dedication to environmental sustainability and emphasized the importance of unity in achieving a cleaner and healthier community.
Originally scheduled for the 15th of the month, the event was held earlier to ensure maximum participation from church members. Pastor Obeng-Boadu asserted that by changing negative attitudes towards the environment, Ghana could become a better place for its citizens.
In addition to the clean-up exercise, the church plans to undertake other environmental initiatives in the Anloga district. These efforts will focus on promoting sustainable practices, reducing waste, and preserving natural resources. The exercise also underscored the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness and promoting unity, which can lead to greater achievements than individual efforts alone.
Pastor Obeng-Boadu urged the public to support the church's initiatives, calling for collective action to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. He believes that working together can lead to significant positive changes in the community.
Church members who participated in the exercise expressed their commitment to environmental care, hoping to inspire and serve as a model for other organizations and communities.
