Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Sees 400% Rise in Market Revenue Collection

Akatsi: The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region has achieved a significant growth of over 400 percent in its market toll collections, as announced by Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area. This increase has seen market day revenue collections soar from an average of GHS3,556.30 in 2024 to over GHS17,131.268.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Daniel Dagba attributed this remarkable growth to the introduction of the assembly's high surveillance initiative, alongside the collective efforts of staff and assembly members. He highlighted that these indicators are the highest recorded since the establishment of the assembly. Mr. Dagba emphasized the assembly's commitment to ensuring that all traders and businesses using the Akatsi Market comply with the payment of market tolls and other legitimate financial obligations.

Mr. Dagba further explained the role of the 13 commission-based revenue collectors and the assembly's taskforce team in this achievement. He mentioned the ongoing assistance from assembly members, who serve on a rotational basis, to support the revenue collection efforts. As of the end of July this year, the assembly accrued a total of GHS 482,124.86 from the Akatsi market. Mr. Dagba expressed optimism that the target of more than GHS 1.12 million for 2035 would be met.

He also noted the assembly's continued focus on its Revenue Sensitization and Mobilization drive within the area. On the topic of development projects, Mr. Dagba stated that the assembly is prepared to mobilize necessary resources within their mandate to improve roads and address pressing issues of concern.
