Benin: Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, has commenced a special initiative of rotating his office and making the Foreign Minister more accessible to Ghanaians everywhere in the world. The Minister in a statement noted that their first batch of office rotation was taking them to Benin, Nigeria, and Togo.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Ablakwa stated, "I have so far spent two days in Benin interacting with the vibrant Ghanaian community here, meeting Ghanaian students on a French-Year-Abroad Programme, speaking with Ghanaian entrepreneurs, meeting with staff of STC and holding talks with the impressively organized leadership of the Ghanaian community in Benin." He emphasized that the exclusive engagement with staff of the diplomatic mission has been beneficial as it will lead to the right and most appropriate set of interventions upon his return to Accra.The Minister also inspected Ghana's diplomatic properties to assess their true state for a more curated policy response. He availed himself for private consultations at the embassy with Ghanaians seeking one-on-one opportunities to discuss important and urgent matters with their Foreign Minister. He expressed his intention to undertake this special office rotation and working visits initiative regularly.Mr Ablakwa noted that he was looking forward to spending the next three days in Nigeria. "We hope to reach out to our compatriots in Africa before replicating this in other continents," he stated. He reiterated that President Mahama's administration is committed to open, transparent, hands-on, and accessible governance.
