Accra: Ghanaian high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah has advanced to the finals of the female high jump events at the ongoing 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. The two-time African Games gold champion accomplished this goal with a 1.92m clearance to secure a position in the elite finalists group.
According to Ghana News Agency, Yeboah became the first Ghanaian athlete in 20 years to reach an individual final at the World Athletics Championships, succeeding Ignatius Gaisah and Margaret Simpson in 2005. It was a significant performance by Yeboah at the Tokyo Championships, especially after her preliminary round exit at last year's Olympic Games in Paris.
Yeboah, who is currently the national record holder, aims to reach the medal podium for Ghana as she competes in the finals set for Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. The jumper would need to equal or surpass her national high jump record of 1.97m to have a chance at a medal.
