Kadjebi: The Kadjebi District Directorate of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit has facilitated the construction of 109 Improved Household Latrines between January and June 2025. This initiative aims to enhance sanitation conditions in the district.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Victus Elorm Kpotosu, the District Environmental Health Officer (DEHO), revealed that this accomplishment is part of a larger goal to construct 197 latrines within the specified period. This effort is a significant step towards achieving better hygiene standards and improving public health outcomes in the region.
The directorate also conducted medical screenings for 630 food and drink vendors as part of its initiatives to ensure consumer safety and prevent the spread of foodborne diseases. These measures are crucial in maintaining the well-being of the community and safeguarding public health.
In addition to the construction of latrines, Mr. Kpotosu shared that officers inspected 5,490 houses. During these inspections, residents were educated on healthy lifestyles, good sanitation practices, and environmental cleanliness. These educational efforts are vital in fostering a culture of hygiene and environmental awareness among the district’s population.
Mr. Kpotosu reiterated the directorate’s dedication to improving sanitation and public health standards in Kadjebi, highlighting the importance of continued efforts in these areas to ensure the well-being of the community.
