Akim Swedru: An inter-faith peace football tournament was organized by the Birim South District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the District Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) for the youth in Akim Swedru. Mr. Yaw Somuah, Birim South District NCCE Director, emphasized that the event fostered an environment for dialogue on peace and violence-free elections.According to Ghana News Agency, the tournament brought together youth participants from various churches, mosques, and political parties. Mr. Somuah highlighted that peaceful elections are vital for a stable and prosperous Ghana, urging citizens to ensure peace in the upcoming December elections.Police Inspector Francis Nyarko, Station Officer at Akim Aduasa, engaged with the youth, explaining the supremacy of state laws over individuals, including political leaders. He stressed the importance of laws in safeguarding citizens' rights and maintaining public safety. Nyarko advised the youth to avoid vi olence before, during, and after the elections to evade legal consequences.Electoral violence was defined by Inspector Nyarko as acts of coercion, intimidation, or physical harm aimed at influencing the electoral process. The football tournament featured 85 male youths, with 60 forming three teams of 20 members each and 25 supporting from the stands, promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among the participants.
