Kumasi: The Most Reverend Professor Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, has cautioned the youth against hate speech and acts that are likely to mar the peace of the country in the election period. He emphasized the importance of respecting authority and addressing grievances through appropriate channels rather than engaging in activities that create tension and division.According to Ghana News Agency, the warning was issued during the inauguration of the newly created Kumasi North Diocese of the church at Bantama. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu highlighted ongoing issues such as the misappropriation of state funds, hate speech by politicians, and illegal mining, which threaten the peace and security of Ghana. He urged that these activities cease to protect the country's peace and progress. The ceremony also marked the induction of Right Rev. Sampson Obeng Adjei as the first Bishop of the Kumasi North Diocese, with Mr. Kwasi Agyemang Bediako serving as the Lay Chairman. Prof. Asamoah -Gyadu explained that the diocese was established due to the growth of the Methodist Church in Kumasi, which had expanded to a point where effective pastoral care by a single Bishop was challenging. He expressed hope that the new diocese would enable better supervision and foster church growth. The Presiding Bishop encouraged the new leaders, Rt. Rev. Obeng Adjei and Mr. Bediako, to focus on preaching salvation to promote peace among all, including politicians, civil servants, and security personnel. Rt. Rev. Obeng Adjei pledged to enhance evangelism and discipleship within the diocese and collaborate with leaders to build places of worship and establish manses to support church activities.
