Wassa Amenfi West: Dr Maxwell Boakye, a 32-year-old entrepreneur from the Wassa Amenfi West District, has been elected as the Western Regional Representative to the Council of State. He secured his position by polling 17 out of the 28 total valid votes cast, outperforming his closest competitor, Nana Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, a 74-year-old business executive, who received 10 votes.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Clement Adjei, a 55-year-old businessperson, managed to secure only one vote, while the remaining six candidates did not receive any votes. The election saw all 28 expected votes cast, with no ballots being rejected or spoiled.
Dr Boakye expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their support and trust in him to represent the Western Region on the Council of State. He committed to serving with humility and integrity, aiming to ensure that the region benefits from development projects.
The Council of State serves as an advisory body to the President, Parliament, Ministers of State, and other state agencies, playing a crucial role in promoting good, inclusive, and accountable governance. A total of nine candidates contested in this election.
