Volta Regional Minister Mandates Regular Site Meetings for Construction Projects

Hohoe: Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has issued a directive for all contractors and engineers involved in projects within the Volta region to conduct regular site meetings with stakeholders. These meetings are deemed crucial for providing updates on the scope of work and addressing any challenges encountered, ensuring proper resolution.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Gunu made these remarks while inspecting ongoing projects in the Hohoe Municipality as part of his working visit. His inspection included the Hohoe to Logba Vuinta section of the Eastern Corridor Road, the Hohoe Light Industrial Area, and the Fodome Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), alongside some private businesses. He is in contact with the road Sector Minister to ensure all construction works are attended to promptly and that contractors receive timely payments.

Mr Gunu emphasized the importance of hiring local residents for the projects and urged contractors to adhere to high standards. Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, the Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, praised the contractor for the ongoing work and expressed hope that significant progress would be made with adequate funding by December 2025.

Togbega Gabusu VII, the Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area, highlighted the impact of road conditions and dust on residents and expressed appreciation for the contractor's efforts. Mr Leonard Mensah, the Road Area Manager of Ghana Highway Authority in Hohoe, reported that the construction of drains was progressing and expected to be completed by the end of September, depending on fund availability.

At the Light Industrial Site, Mr Gunu expressed satisfaction with the work and plans for the area, promising to report to the Presidency. Mr Prosper Kumi, the Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, announced plans to showcase the Municipality's technological assets during the 2025 Volta Trade and Investment Fair and sought investments. He also expressed readiness to host the government's Farmer Service Centres, appealing for necessary machinery.

Togbe Osei III, the Chief of Gbi Godenu, indicated the community's willingness to provide more land for project expansion and called for employment opportunities for local residents. At the UHAS Fodome Campus, Mr Gunu urged the construction firm to display their work plan, noting the project's significance to the NDC. Miss Yaa Amankwaa Opuni, Registrar of UHAS, shared that the University received assurances from the President about the campus's completion. She mentioned that 58 percent of the work was completed, with hopes for early completion to enable further projects. The University currently serves 2,235 students across various programs.
