VAST-Ghana Organises Aerobics to Mark World Physical Activity Day

Accra: VAST-Ghana has made a significant move to promote physical health by organizing an aerobics session in commemoration of World Physical Activity Day 2025. Mr. Labram Musah, the Executive Director of Vision for Accelerated Sustainable Development (VAST-Ghana), emphasized the importance of regular physical activity as a means to prevent rising noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, cancers, and respiratory diseases.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Musah highlighted the value of exercise in an interview after leading staff members of the Ministry of Health in the aerobics session, advocating it as a powerful tool for enhancing both physical and mental well-being. He encouraged offices and establishments to designate specific days for exercise to foster a healthier workforce.

Mr. Musah stressed the importance of involving individuals of all ages and backgrounds in physical activities to combat chronic diseases. He revealed VAST-Ghana's plans to collaborate with public and private sectors, including organizations like the Food and Drugs Authority and Ghana Health Service, to integrate physical activity into daily work routines.

Mr. Prince Amoah from the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health also supported the initiative, urging the public to adopt physical activity as a lifestyle. He noted that any level of physical activity could yield health benefits, reinforcing the message that increased activity leads to better health outcomes.

Madam Charity Sackitey from the Ministry of Health, who participated in the aerobics, expressed her satisfaction and recalled that such activities were previously part of the Ministry's culture. She appealed to VAST-Ghana to assist in revitalizing this tradition, underscoring the importance of maintaining physical activity for improved health.
