Togbi Ekpe Subo Calls on President Mahama to Complete Weta-Afiadenyigba Road Network

Anlo-Afiadenyigba: Togbi Ekpe Subo V, Chief of Dome-Kpornugah of Anlo-Afiadenyigba, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to prioritize the completion of the Weta-Afiadenyigba-Havedzi road to attract investors and enhance economic activities in the area. He made this appeal during his maiden speech at his coronation ceremony, held at the Anlo-Afiadenyigba durbar grounds.

According to Ghana News Agency, Togbi Ekpe Subo's request is based on President Mahama being conferred the title of Developmental Chief of Anlo-Afiadenyigba during his campaign ahead of the 2024 general elections. The Chief called for the President's commitment to ensuring the project's completion. He appealed through their Member of Parliament, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, for the President's urgent intervention.

Togbi Ekpe Subo emphasized the road project's significance, explaining that its completion would improve access to Anlo-Afiadenyigba and several other farming and fishing communities in the Anlo area. He noted that better road infrastructure would encourage investment and significantly contribute to the government's agro-business initiatives. The Chief highlighted that completing the road would enhance connectivity and boost economic activities, particularly in the fishing, salt mining, kente weaving, and agricultural sectors, creating employment opportunities and improving livelihoods.

In his address, Togbi Ekpe Subo V reaffirmed his commitment to providing transformational leadership, focusing on improved healthcare, quality education, and the promotion of peace and unity among his people. He also announced educational support projects to motivate young people in the community to pursue excellence.

The coronation also introduced Mama Yeshike Subo II and Agbotadua Amesimeku. The Weta-Afiadenyigba-Havedzi road, approximately 15 kilometers long, serves as a critical link between Ketu North Municipal and the Keta Municipal, passing through Weta, a farming community known for its rice plantations, and Metrikasa before reaching Afiadenyigba, a vibrant economic hub noted for fishing, kente weaving, salt mining, and trading. The road construction is expected to enhance trade, transportation, and overall development within the southern part of the region.
