Amasaman: Three commercial motorbike riders were on Tuesday granted a GHC50,000.00 bail with two sureties each by the Amasaman Circuit Court over alleged robbery.
According to Ghana News Agency, the sureties for Richard Lamptey, 18, alias Patapa, Bright Guamah, alias Barrister, 24, and Michael Tetteh, aka Passward, 23, are required to be justified with titled deed documents. The accused denied conspiring to rob Madam Yaa Horsu, a food vendor, and are required to deposit their valid national identity cards with the Court's Registry.
The accused individuals, Lamptey, Guamah, and Tetteh, are scheduled to make their next court appearance on April 2, 2025, in front of Ms Enid Marful-Sau. Police Chief Inspector Benjamin Arthur, presenting the facts, stated that Madam Horsu, the complainant, was a food vendor at Dome Sampaman in Accra, where Lamptey also resided. Guamah and Tetteh lived in Kwashiekuma and Addeyman, respectively.
On October 23, 2024, at approximately 0400 hours, the complainant was on her way to the market with three others when three young men, armed with machetes and riding unregistered motorbikes, approached and ordered her to surrender her possessions under threat. The prosecution detailed that the accused succeeded in robbing the complainant of her mobile phone and cash amounting to GHS6,400.00 before fleeing.
Intelligence gathered led to the arrest of the accused individuals, the prosecution stated. During the investigation, Tetteh admitted to conspiring with Lamptey and Guamah to rob Madam Horsu, the court was informed. Following the investigation, the accused were arraigned.
