Damascus: The spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Noureddine al-Baba, confirmed that the parliamentary elections concluded in all polling stations without any security incidents.
According to Ghana News Agency, al-Baba stated in a Sunday interview with dpa that the Syrian Interior Ministry secured all 50 polling stations across the country, ensuring the safety of over 7,000 members of the electoral committees. The process was conducted smoothly from a security perspective, with hundreds of Interior Ministry personnel deployed to protect citizens participating in the elections. Additionally, hundreds of media correspondents were distributed among all polling centers.
Al-Baba emphasized that this vote marked the first time elections in Syria were held without interference from intelligence agencies or regime officials in the selection of candidates, allowing the process to proceed freely. This election is a significant event for Syria, as it is the first parliamentary election since the overthrow of long-time ruler Bashar al-Assad, marking a pivotal moment in the country's transition after nearly 14 years of war.
