Sunyani: The Sunyani Police have confirmed the custody of two suspected thieves who were nearly lynched by some angry youth at the Sunyani Zongo in the early hours of Monday, November 4, 2024.According to Ghana News Agency, a reliable source at the Sunyani Municipal Police Station noted that the suspects would soon be arraigned before the court as police investigations continued. It was also reported that the suspects were in good health.The individuals, known as 'Lord Bans' and 'Pope Skinny', allegedly broke into a provision shop at the Sunyani Zongo and stole various items, including a refrigerator from the Sunyani-Chiraa lorry stations. Their attempt to pack the stolen goods was thwarted, leading to their capture.Malik, a concerned resident who intervened, recounted that the suspects faced severe beating from the irate youth, who even attempted to set them ablaze. He stated that some of the stolen items, initially sold by the suspects, have since been retrieved from the buyer.Mr. Bawa Haruna, husb and of shop owner Madam Fati Haruna, highlighted the ongoing issue of theft and burglary in the area. He appealed to the police to enhance their presence, particularly at night, to deter criminal activities. Expressing hope for swift justice, Mr. Haruna believes that a quick resolution would serve as a warning to the youth who have turned to theft.
