Sunyani East MP Pledges Judicious Use of Common Fund

Sunyani: Mr Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, has pledged his commitment to ensure the judicious use of his share of the MP's Common Fund to improve the lives of the constituents. He mentioned that he has received GHC500,000 as his share of the District Assembly Common Fund and has already spent close to GHC200,000 on development projects.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Mubarak, in a media interview in Sunyani, stated that he is yet to receive his share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND). Nonetheless, he has already provided educational scholarships to needy but brilliant tertiary students in the area. He has also extended educational support to some first-year students who have gained admission to Senior High Schools by covering their prospectus.

Mr Mubarak explained that he is collaborating with the Sunyani Municipal Directorate of Health to construct Community-based Planning Service (CHPS) compounds in some of the deprived communities. Additionally, plans are in place for the construction of mechanized boreholes to expand water coverage and improve access to potable drinking water in eight deprived communities in the constituency. These communities include Abesim-Yaamiri, Kyermogya, Mensakrom, Adomako, Watchman, the Sunyani Technical Institute, and the Sunyani Area Two.

Regarding infrastructure, Mr Mubarak stated that he has lobbied for the construction of a 10-kilometer stretch of access roads in the constituency. Work is expected to commence soon on a three-kilometer access road at Abesim. Additional access roads, each spanning three kilometers, will be constructed in the Kuotokrom, Yawhima, and Baakoniaba communities.

Mr Mubarak assured that many deserving communities will benefit from the access road projects, emphasizing that 'the Sunyani East constituency is set to benefit from 40-kilometer access roads within four years of my administration'.
