Strong Earthquakes Strike Off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula

Kamchatka: A series of powerful earthquakes struck off the coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, with the strongest reaching a magnitude of 7.6.

According to Ghana News Agency, the region has subsequently experienced nearly 30 aftershocks, with magnitudes ranging from 4.0 to 6.7.

Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations initially issued a tsunami warning, prompting residents to evacuate coastal areas. This warning was later lifted, alleviating immediate concerns over potential tidal waves. Fortunately, no casualties or major damage have been reported following the seismic events.

Twenty-two inspection teams have been deployed to survey key infrastructure, including schools, energy facilities, and water and heating systems in the affected areas. Authorities confirmed that all economic and public services, such as utilities, electricity, medical facilities, and boiler houses, are operating normally.
