GAFSA: The seasonal tomato production earmarked for processing in Gafsa governorate is expected to reach 50,000 tonnes, according to estimates from the Local Agricultural Development Commission.This harvest marks a 40,000-tonne increase from the previous season's yield, as reported to TAP by head of vegetable production at the Commission Abdelsattar Ghobtan.The cultivation area for these crops this year spans 500 hectares in the region, with 90% of the yield concentrated in Sidi Aish and North Gafsa, while the remainder is harvested in South Gafsa.Ghobtan emphasised that tomato harvesting operations will continue throughout the month of July.Source: Agence Tunis Afrique Presse
