Accra: The Mid-Ghana Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church has initiated the construction of a 220-bed retreat centre in Feyiase, Bekwai Municipality. The groundbreaking ceremony, held on a 79-acre site, was attended by church leaders, traditional authorities, contractors, and community members, marking a significant development for the church and the Feyiase community.

According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor (Dr.) Kwame Annor Boahen, President of the Mid-Ghana Union Conference, announced that Asumadu Construction Works Limited has been contracted to build the facility. Designed as a multipurpose centre, it will host various church events and serve as an extension campus for Valley View University, establishing a medical school to train health workers.

Dr. Boahen stated that the first phase, expected to be completed in 12 months, will provide a 220-bed hostel. He highlighted the support pledged by church auxiliaries, associations, and stakeholders for the project’s success.

Mr. Michael Oti Mensah, Engineer and CEO of Asumadu Construction Works Limited, assured quality work and timely completion. He called on Feyiase residents to protect construction materials, warning that theft could delay progress. Mr. Oti Mensah expressed gratitude to the SDA Mid-Ghana Union Conference for their trust and promised to exceed expectations.

Nana Osei Tutu, Chief of Feyiase, praised the SDA Church for choosing Feyiase for this development and urged the contractor to hire local youth. He emphasized that the project should benefit both the church and the community by providing employment opportunities.

The Adventist Retreat Centre is anticipated to enhance spiritual growth, education, and economic activities in the Bekwai Municipality and surrounding areas.
