Professor Tweneboah-Koduah Named Dean of University of Ghana Business School

Accra: Professor Ernest Yaw Tweneboah-Koduah has been appointed Dean of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), becoming the first faculty member from the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship to reach this esteemed position. He succeeds Prof. Justice Nyigmah Bawole, who had a successful two-term administration, strengthening the school’s foundation and achieving significant milestones.



According to Ghana News Agency, the appointment of Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah signifies a personal achievement and highlights the growing importance of the marketing discipline within the academic community, the University of Ghana, and the broader Ghanaian economy. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah, an alumnus of UGBS, holds a BSc in Administration and an MPhil in Marketing from the school and earned his PhD from London Metropolitan University in the UK.



For over 18 years, Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah has been dedicated to the institution as an academic, administrator, strategist, and mentor. He has twice headed the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, playing a pivotal role in its development by enhancing its research capacity and academic influence. His leadership transformed the department into a center of innovation and community engagement.



His appointment as Dean embeds the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship into the core of UGBS’s leadership, underscoring the growing demand for marketing insights in contemporary African business and governance. Beyond departmental leadership, Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah has chaired several strategic committees at the University, including the Safety and Security Services Committee and the Marketing and Communications Committee.



As a coordinator of flagship programs like the MA Marketing Strategy, Executive MBA, and Weekend MBA Marketing, he improved enrolment, curriculum quality, and industry relevance. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah is also recognized for his work in social marketing and behavior change, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications on topics such as public policy, entrepreneurship, and health promotion.



His academic contributions have established him as a leading voice in African scholarship on behavioral change and social development. Parallel to his professional journey, Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah is committed to service and faith as an Elder of the Church of Pentecost and worshipper at Pentecost International Worship Centre, Atomic, Accra.



His roles on the Council of the Bible Society of Ghana and various corporate and educational boards demonstrate his dedication to a life of significance. Prof. Tweneboah-Koduah’s appointment as Dean marks a transformative moment for UGBS and emphasizes that marketing is essential to innovation, governance, and economic empowerment.
