Accra: President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday made key National Security appointments to reflect his commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of citizens.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, announced that Mr. Prosper Douglas Bani, a former Chief of Staff, had been appointed National Security Advisor to the President. Mr. Bani, who previously served as Minister for the Interior, brings experience and expertise to his new role.
The statement highlighted that Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul-Osman Razak would serve as the National Security Coordinator. His role involves ensuring a cohesive strategy across all security initiatives, which is critical for maintaining national safety and security.
Additionally, Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd) has been appointed as Director of Operations at the Presidency. In this capacity, he will be responsible for overseeing operational effectiveness in security matters, a role vital for the coordination and implementation of security operations.
Mr. Charles Kipo has been named Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau, further strengthening the national security framework with his leadership in intelligence matters.
