AtwimaNwabiagya South Municipality to Establish Development Centre for Youth Empowerment

Nkawie: The AtwimaNwabiagya South Municipality Assembly in the Ashanti Region has announced plans to set up a coordinating centre aimed at initiating and implementing strategic programmes to enhance the livelihoods of its residents. This initiative seeks to address the socio-economic needs of over 70,000 people within the next five years.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Centre for Youth, Technology, Empowerment and Partnership (CYTEP) will serve as a hub for resource mobilization, fostering innovation, and driving community development in alignment with both the municipal development agenda and the United Nations' sustainable development goals. The centre, which is a special initiative of Mr. Wisdom OseiBoamah, the Municipal Chief Executive, aims to attract and coordinate financial, technical, and institutional resources to accelerate the implementation of priority projects.

Mr. Boamah explained in an interview that the centre would serve as a vital bridge between the aspirations of the Municipality and the necessary resources to achieve them. He highlighted that over 50 youth and fitness clubs, among other entities, would be brought together for measurable and sustainable changes through coordinated partnerships and innovative programmes. These programmes will include sports and wellness clubs, vocational training, and digital skills development to improve residents' livelihoods.

Mr. Boamah urged traditional authorities, private sector leaders, donor agencies, and community stakeholders to support the initiative. He emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and results-oriented programming to ensure that every partnership, project, and investment directly benefits the community, especially the youth.

He also mentioned that during the centre's official inauguration, a five-member executive committee would be formed to implement expertise and strategic partnerships. This committee will focus on innovation, public engagement, monitoring, and evaluation, aiming to establish a professional, multi-sectorial, and accountable operational framework for the centre's activities.
