According to Ghana News Agency, the leaders who reached out included Liberian Vice President Jeremiah Koung Sr., who joined President Mahama at the Blackstar Square in Accra for the state funeral. Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., also extended his deepest condolences, expressing profound shock and sorrow over the incident. President Boakai emphasized the shared grief felt by the Liberian people, recalling the recent visit of Ghanaian Minister Boamah to Liberia, which strengthened the bond between the two nations.
President Mahama, while addressing mourners, expressed hope that the state funeral would bring closure to a grieving nation and usher in a new era of prosperity for Ghana. The helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region, resulted in the loss of prominent figures, including Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, among others.
