Accra: An Evening of Reflections and Memorial was held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra to honor the eight victims of the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash. President John Dramani Mahama addressed the gathering, urging the nation to honor the memories of those lost with renewed dedication to the ideals they lived and died for.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama emphasized the importance of recommitting to nation-building and working tirelessly to create a Ghana of opportunity, justice, and prosperity for all. He expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and acknowledged the shared grief that enveloped the nation following the tragic incident at Adansi Akrofuom.
President Mahama noted that the loss affected him personally, as many of the departed were friends, colleagues, and valued citizens of Ghana. He highlighted the sudden and unpredictable nature of their passing, emphasizing the fragility of life and the profound impact the tragedy had on the nation.
The victims included notable figures such as Flight Officer Twum Ampadu, Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, and several political figures and ministers. President Mahama acknowledged the collective shock and grief, stating that the abrupt nature of the loss compounded the nation's sorrow.
In his reflection, President Mahama also referenced a similar accident that occurred days before, where 15 young citizens lost their lives. He reiterated his condolences to those affected and praised the resilience and unity of Ghanaians during such challenging times.
The President concluded by calling on the nation to honor the lives of the victims by continuing their work and embodying the values they stood for, fostering a stronger and united Ghana.
