Ghana to Host African Political Parties Summit in 2025

Accra: The Africa Governance Centre, in partnership with Ghana’s Government, will host the African Political Parties Summit from August 12-14, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The meeting is set to bring together delegates from over 100 political parties and 50 African and Caribbean countries, including heads of state, political party leaders, civil society leaders, academic experts, and international development institutions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Summit will serve as a strategic platform for dialogue, consensus-building, and inter-party cooperation aimed at strengthening democratic governance and catalyzing economic transformation on the African continent. The event will be held under the theme: ‘From Politics to Prosperity: Strengthening Inter-Party Collaboration for Africa’s Development and Economic Transformation.’

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to deliver the opening address at the program, which will feature plenary sessions, strategic forums, and side meetings. The event will also witness the official adoption of the implementation framework of the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), a flagship institutional platform for sustained inter-party engagement and capacity development.

Local and international media attending the summit have been urged to apply for official accreditation to access plenary proceedings, press briefings, interview opportunities, and photo sessions with summit leaders. The Africa Governance Centre is an independent think tank committed to promoting governance excellence, policy development, and institutional capacity building to support Africa’s economic transformation.

Through research, capacity development, and strategic collaborations, the organization aims, among other things, to strengthen government institutions and facilitate systemic change to achieve a prosperous and inclusive continent.
