Koforidua: Voices from across the Eastern Region resonated with optimism as President John Dramani Mahama initiated his regional 'Thank You Tour' following his 2024 electoral success.
According to Ghana News Agency, the tour began on Sunday and was aimed at expressing gratitude to the citizens for their support during the election.
"The word 'thank you' may sound simple, but in leadership, it's powerful," stated Ms. Ernestina Aboagyewaa, Deputy Women Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Achiase Constituency. She emphasized that expressing gratitude builds relationships and shows respect for the sacrifices made by citizens.
The event took place at Jackson Park in Koforidua, where residents, traders, and party officials gathered to welcome the President. The ceremonial durbar featured traditional rulers and local leaders, highlighting President Mahama's effort to strengthen grassroots connections and regional dialogue.
Ms. Agness Bekoe, a vendor at the event, noted the energetic atmosphere, while fellow trader Ekua Yeboah observed an increase in business activity. "Sales are picking up and I expect even more by day's end," she commented.
Mr. Francis Arthur, Secretary of the Asene Manso Akroso Constituency, praised Mahama's economic management, citing the steady appreciation of the cedi as a sign of good governance. He expressed hope for future development tailored to local needs.
The crowd responded positively to President Mahama's messages of gratitude and progress. The President emphasized the importance of action and commitment to progress, stating, "The people of Eastern Region placed their trust in me. This tour is about saying thank you, not just with words, but with action."
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), under Mr. Mahama's leadership, was prominently represented with party colours and slogans displayed throughout the park. Residents eagerly anticipated hearing specifics about regional priorities.
President Mahama is expected to continue his tour in other regions in the coming weeks, addressing both national concerns and local aspirations.
