ACCRA: President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has posthumously honored Marcus Garvey with the Order of the Star of Ghana, Member, acknowledging his substantial influence on black nationalism and Pan-Africanism. This recognition was part of the National Honours and Awards 2024 held in Accra, where the President emphasized Garvey's lasting impact on global African unity and empowerment.
According to Ghana News Agency, Marcus Garvey's contributions continue to inspire pride and cohesion within black communities worldwide. A Jamaican black nationalist, Garvey dedicated his life to fostering African consciousness, notably founding the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in 1914 to promote black nationalism through the celebration of African history and culture.
