Nkrankwanta: The Nkrankwanta Township in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region experienced a shocking turn of events when a Fulani nomad self-confessed to the murder of a mobile phone vendor in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the deceased, Japhet Yeboah, was shot dead at his mobile vending shop in Nkrankwanta on February 18, 2025. He has since been buried. Mr. Issifu Basoma, the Assembly Member for the Asuopiri Electoral Area, confirmed to the Ghana News Agency that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with police investigations. He explained that the confession came after some community opinion leaders consulted a local shrine seeking help to identify those involved in the crime.
In adherence to the town's traditions, Mr. Basoma stated that libation was poured and rituals were performed to invoke the wrath of the local deity. Following these events, the suspect approached the elders and confessed to the crime. He also guided the elders to a location where they discovered a pistol, allegedly used in the murder, along with other sharp objects.
