Parliamentary Candidates at Amenfi West Commit to Peaceful Election.

Amenfi West: Parliamentary Candidates (PC) at the Amenfi West Constituency in the Western Region have reiterated their commitments to uphold the principles of peace before, during, and after the upcoming general election on December 7.According to Ghana News Agency, they made the commitments when the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organized a dialogue for them to deliberate on how to ensure political stability in the constituency. The dialogue also provided a platform for the candidates to articulate their vision and policies for their constituents to make informed decisions on election day.The dialogue was attended by Mr. Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, but Mr. Eric Afful, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, failed to show up. The discussions, however, focused on issues of development concerns like education, employment, health, roads and infras tructure, economy, and agriculture among others.Mr. Afrifa said his party was committed to ensuring peace, and that the use of decent language would be its hallmark and campaign based on key issues of national interest. He said if elected, he would, among other things, use his office to lobby for central government projects around infrastructure and create more employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the constituency.Mr. Cornelius Ahiekpor, the Amenfi West Municipal NCCE Director, in his welcoming remarks, said the dialogue was to provide a platform for the parliamentary candidates to articulate their vision and policies, while soliciting their commitments to non-violence and issue-based campaigns in the area. He asked the electorate to ensure they lived in harmony with one another for peace to prevail before, during, and after the election.He, however, expressed his disappointment on the failure of the MP to show up for an event meant to entrench the country's democratic credentials. Mr. Lord Tandoh, the Amenfi West Municipal Chief Executive, thanked the NCCE for organizing such an important programme and said the Assembly would assist all the security services and Electoral Commission to conduct a free, fair, credible, and incident-free election in the Municipality.Mr. Justice Yaw Ennin, the Western Regional Director of the NCCE, expressed appreciation to all those who graced the occasion and asked them to vote based on policies and development plans outlined by each candidate.
