Accra: Mr Adama Yeboah, a teacher and the Assembly Member for Besease Electoral Area in the Dormaa Municipality, has been elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Dormaa Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region. In an election conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr Yeboah secured 36 'yes' votes from the 44-member assembly, while six members voted 'No'.
According to Ghana News Agency, the assembly had previously struggled to elect a Presiding Member, with several unsuccessful attempts last year. The successful election of Mr Yeboah is seen as a significant step forward for the assembly.
Baffour Kwadwo Damoah Afari, the Sanaahene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area, praised the assembly members for electing the PM, highlighting that this would aid in the municipality's development. Mr Nar- ire P David, the Dormaa Central Municipal Coordinating Director, also commended the assembly members for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
