Accra: Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for offering him the opportunity to serve as Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness at the Presidency. In a statement, Dr Otokunor committed to applying his knowledge, skills, experience, and energy to fulfill the vision set forth in his new role.According to Ghana News Agency, Dr Otokunor is an agricultural economist and chartered financial economist with a diverse professional background. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and various other qualifications from institutions including New England University in the United States and the International Labour Organization in Italy. His academic credentials are complemented by over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.Currently a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies in Accra, Dr Otokunor has held several significant roles including Deputy General Secretary (Operations) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Secretary General of the African Leftist Party Schools Union. He is also the Director of Inter-party and Civil Society Relations for the NDC and a member of the NDC Elections Directorate.In public service, Dr Otokunor has served as Head of Research at the Communications Directorate at the Office of the President and as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority of Ghana. He played a key role in various political campaigns and committees, contributing to the NDC's strategic efforts and initiatives over the years.Dr Otokunor's extensive experience and dedication to public service underscore his commitment to his new role, where he aims to drive significant initiatives in agriculture and agribusiness under the leadership of President Mahama.
