Dambai: Reverend Phanuel Kwaku Drah, the District Minister of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Dambai, highlighted the indispensable role of peace in upholding democracy during and after elections. Speaking at a public lecture, he underscored that peace is not simply the absence of conflict, but also encompasses justice, understanding, and unity.According to Ghana News Agency, Rev Drah delivered these remarks during an event focused on building the capacity of stakeholders to act as peacemakers throughout the electoral process. He urged all involved parties to commit to promoting peaceful and credible elections. The lecture stressed the vital role of various stakeholders, including religious leaders, civil society organizations, and the media, in maintaining peace and stability.Rev Drah emphasized that peace is a collective responsibility, urging everyone to contribute towards ensuring that the forthcoming elections are conducted in a peaceful, free, and fair manner. Mr. Clement Kwasi Mamad u, the Krachi East Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), also reiterated the necessity of peace for national development and growth, stating that it is the duty of all citizens to uphold peace during elections.Mr. Mamadu has been actively engaging with key stakeholders, such as traditional leaders and youth groups, to raise awareness about the significance of peace and tolerance in democratic governance. The event, which saw participation from diverse sectors, served as a platform for leaders, including traditional and religious figures, as well as representatives from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Students Union, ECG personnel, and security agencies, to deliver messages advocating for peace and unity.The gathering encouraged citizens to foster tolerance, understanding, and peaceful coexistence, particularly in the current electioneering period.
