Dunkwa-on-offin: A new chapter is unfolding in Denkyira's rich history as Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV, the newly enstooled Omanhene (Paramount Chief) of Denkyira, prepares to make his symbolic journey to Abankesieso, near Dunkwa-on-Offin, following his grand enstoolment ceremony at Jukwa, the traditional capital of Denkyira. The journey, which would be undertaken today holds deep cultural and spiritual significance and marks the formal transition of the newly installed chief into his ancestral seat of authority.
According to Ghana News Agency, after an Omanhene is enstooled at Jukwa, the spiritual home of the Denkyiras, he proceeds to Abankesieso, where he is formally introduced to the people and ancestors of the larger Denkyira kingdom. Sources within the Denkyira Traditional Council have confirmed that preparations are in full swing at both Jukwa and Abankesieso to welcome Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV.
Traditional drummers, dancers, and chiefs from various parts of the Denkyira State are expected to accompany the Omanhene in a colourful procession symbolizing unity, continuity, and renewal. The convoy would include sub-chiefs, queen mothers, elders, and youth groups, who would escort the Omanhene amid traditional music and chants, celebrating his ascension.
At Abankesieso, a grand durbar of chiefs and people would be held to officially receive him as the rightful occupant of the Denkyira stool. Odeefo Boa Amponsem IV succeeds his late uncle, Odeefo Boa Amponsem III, who reigned for over five decades and was widely celebrated for his wisdom, diplomacy, and dedication to Denkyira's development.
As the new Denkyirahene prepares for the historic journey, expectations are high that his leadership would usher in a new era of unity, cultural revival, and progress across the Denkyira State. Many residents of Dunkwa-on-Offin and surrounding communities have expressed excitement about the forthcoming event, describing it as not only a royal journey but also a moment of pride and rebirth for the entire Denkyira Kingdom.

All stores and shops have been ordered to close until the end of the traditional rites. Residents are expected to wear black and only colours of the Denkyira empire till the final rites are done.
