Mr Thomas Hughes Amissah, known politically as 'Skillful', has donated a number of items needed by the seven Asafo companies in Oguaa Traditional Area to perform the required rituals to commemorate the 2024 Oguaa Fetu Afahye.Mr Amissah, a distinguished businessman, gave each Asafo company a truckload of firewood, palm oil, kerosene, matches and chewing sponge, as per tradition for the festivities.The Asafo Companies in Oguaaman are Ntsin, Nkum, Abrofomba, Anaafo, Bentsir, Akrampa, and Amanful.Being a true son of the historic city, he said he understood the importance of the items donated in ensuring that the customs associated with the celebration was successfully performed.In accordance with tradition during Fetu Afahye celebration, each Asafo company arranges a bonfire after the ban on drumming and noise making is lifted, symbolising their preparedness for the commencement of the festival.The bonfire also cleanses the ancient city of any misfortune, ushering in blessings for accelerated developme nt.Mr Amissah expressed his appreciation to the Asafo companies for policing the ban on drumming and noise-making in the Area.He extended his well-wishes to everyone ahead of the Afahye and prayed for an incident-free festival.The leaders (Supi) of the Asafo companies thanked him for the items and commended him for his unwavering support.They pledged their united efforts to ensure an exceptional celebrations this year's.They urged all residents to maintain peace and harmony by welcoming all visitors with the hospitality characteristic of the good people of Oguaa.Culturally, Asafo companies play various political and social roles within their communities, serving as military units with a clearly defined chain of command.The Oguaa Fetu Afahye is a festival observed on the first Saturday of September by the Chiefs and people of Oguaa Traditional Area.It was named after the 17th Century Fetu or Effutu kingdom, situated 19 kilometres inland.Source: Ghana News Agency
