Obrempong Dr Yeboah Calls for Enhanced Collaboration Between Chiefs and Local Authorities.

Sunyani: Obrempong Dr Yeboah Asamoah, the Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, has called for effective collaboration between local authorities and traditional authorities to facilitate the progressive development of the nation. As the embodiment of the people, he emphasized that a strong partnership between chiefs, queens, and local authorities is crucial for effective decision-making that would lead to development.According to Ghana News Agency, Obrempong Dr Asamoah made this call during the opening session of the 22nd Biennial National Delegates Conference of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) in Sunyani. The conference, themed 'Empowering Local Governance: A New Dawn for Electoral Area Development,' gathered representatives from various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies. It served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss and identify strategies for empowering local government and promoting electoral area development.Obremp ong Dr Asamoah highlighted the integral role of chiefs and queens in decision-making at all levels-from national to community. He stated that their active involvement in the development process would better position them to revive the ancient spirit of communal labor among Ghanaians. This involvement is seen as a way to strengthen unity and promote inclusiveness in the development process.He further noted that the collaboration between local and traditional authorities is a significant step towards promoting a peaceful Election 2024 and strengthening local government systems. Mr. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, the President of NALAG, also spoke at the conference, emphasizing that a strengthened local government system would facilitate accelerated national development. He urged participants to re-energize their commitment to decentralization, empowering local authorities to act as change agents and promote development. Prioritizing electoral area development was highlighted as a key strategy for advancing natio nal development. Mr. Agyemang-Prempeh also stressed the need to strengthen the capacities of local assemblies to improve efficiency and foster strong partnerships.
