National Security Launches ‘See Something, Say Something’ Campaign to Heighten Security Awareness.

Kumawu: The National Security (NS) has embarked on a campaign tour across select areas in the Ashanti region to enhance public awareness regarding security consciousness, aiming to prevent potential terrorist threats. This initiative, titled 'See Something, Say Something', seeks to make public safety and security a collective responsibility.According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Akosua Dankwah Ntim Sekyere, a leading member of the campaign team, shared insights during visits to various Senior High and Technical Schools in the Sekyere East District, Kumawu District, Juabeng, and Ejiso Districts. The team also engaged with local stakeholders to communicate their message effectively. This tour, marking the culmination of a nationwide campaign, aims to empower students to stay vigilant about their surroundings and report any suspicious activities.Madam Sekyere emphasized that neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali, and Togo have experienced unsettling terrorist activities, making it crucial for Ghana to take preventive measures. She highlighted the importance of involving students in combat readiness against terrorism, particularly emphasizing caution on social media, where terrorist influence is prevalent.Mr. Samuel Akoto, another campaign team member, stressed the focus on peace, security, and national protection. He noted that West Africa remains a target for such groups, necessitating proactive measures and collaboration between stakeholders and security agencies to safeguard lives and properties. He urged the public to avoid engaging in vigilantism during citizen arrests and discouraged entertaining strangers.Additionally, Mr. Jacob Amoak, also part of the campaign team, advised students to report any unusual individuals or activities on campus to school authorities.
