Nkwanta Chiefs Embark on Peace Talks to End Violence in the Enclave

Nkwanta: In a significant step towards resolving the long-standing Nkwanta conflict in the Oti Region, the chiefs of the Adele, Akyode, and Challa communities have initiated peace talks. The initiative led by Nana Monfankye Amanfo (Adele), Nana Okajah (Akyode), and Nana Kidesa Okunte (Challa) aims to end a dispute that has caused tension, destruction, and loss of lives for over four years.

According to Ghana News Agency, the conflict, sparked by disputes over unclear land boundaries, has had a devastating impact on the communities. However, recognizing the need for urgent dialogue, the chiefs have come together to promote understanding, unity, and peaceful coexistence. In a recent meeting held at the office of the municipal chief executive, they emphasized the importance of setting aside past grievances for the greater good.

The chiefs highlighted the cultural and historical ties that united the communities, urging leaders to focus on shared values and collective development. They also stressed that lasting peace was crucial to the growth and prosperity of the municipality. As part of the plan to achieve peace, the chiefs proposed community engagement activities to rebuild trust and foster dialogue, particularly among the youth.

The peace talks are expected to continue, with all parties hopeful of reaching a comprehensive resolution. Through collaboration, mutual respect, and open dialogue, the chiefs remained optimistic that a peaceful and united Nkwanta can be achieved. This initiative marks a promising step towards healing and rebuilding the communities.
