Accra: The newly elected executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Upper East Region have been officially sworn in to lead the association for the next three years.
According to Ghana News Agency, the swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Upper East Regional Supervising High Court Judge, His Lordship Justice Charles Gyamfi Danquah, who administered both the Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance to the four-member executive team. The new executives include Mr. Albert Sore as Regional Chairman, Mr. Joshua Asaah as Vice Chairman, Mr. Anthony Adongo Apubeo as Secretary, and Mr. Raymond Wegwi as Treasurer.
In his address, Justice Danquah highlighted the vital role of the media in sustaining democracy and promoting national development. He urged the new leadership to guide journalists in upholding ethical standards and professional integrity. He also encouraged collaboration with key institutions and stakeholders to enhance the impact of journalism on regional development.
Mr. Albert Sore, in his inaugural remarks as Regional Chairman, expressed gratitude to members for their trust and support. He committed to building on the legacy of the previous administration and pursuing a vision that fosters unity and professionalism among journalists in the region. Mr. Sore emphasized their commitment to campaign promises and outlined plans for inclusivity and a stronger media community.
One of the immediate priorities for the new administration, Mr. Sore announced, is the preparation for the 4th edition of the Regional GJA Awards, an event celebrating journalistic excellence. He assured members of maintaining high standards for the awards and called for support to achieve the Association's goals.
The ceremony was attended by Association members and some judiciary staff, marking a significant moment for journalism in the Upper East Region.
