New DVLA Board Chairman Engages Predecessors Ahead of First Board Meeting

Accra: Mr. George Spencer Quaye, the newly appointed Board Chairman of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has begun his tenure with a strong show of collaborative leadership. He is engaging two of his predecessors-Brigadier General I.B. Quartey (Rtd) and Mr. Frank Davies for strategic consultations ahead of his first official board meeting.

According to Ghana News Agency, in a move widely hailed as a mark of humility and forward-thinking, Mr. Quaye's outreach underscored his belief in drawing from institutional memory to shape a progressive future. 'I believe in the power of learning from those who have walked this path before us,' Mr. Quaye said, in Accra on Thursday. He noted that the experiences of past leaders were essential in guiding the Authority's next chapter.

The meeting, held ahead of the Authority's first board session under his chairmanship, emphasised the importance of continuity, unity and shared purpose as key drivers of reform. The consultations covered critical issues including improving service delivery to enhance public satisfaction, strengthening regulatory frameworks to boost road safety, integrating modern technology into DVLA's operations and aligning the Authority's work with Ghana's broader development agenda.

Mr. Quaye brings to the DVLA a strong background in technology and innovation, critical towards transforming DVLA in tandem with the President's national agenda of institutional reform and digital advancement. His leadership philosophy blends fresh ideas with tested experience, fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration.

'The insights shared by Brigadier General Quartey and Mr. Davies will be instrumental as we embark on this journey of transformation in resetting Ghana,' Mr. Quaye noted. He emphasised that his vision for the Authority includes a stronger partnership with stakeholders across the public and private sectors. Beyond internal operations, the new Chairman said he aimed at positioning DVLA as a vital contributor to national development aspirations.

'We are not just managing licenses and vehicle registrations; we are contributing to the safety, efficiency and prosperity of our beloved nation,' Mr. Quaye affirmed. As Ghana aspires to lead in innovation and public sector excellence within the sub-region, Mr. Quaye's leadership promises a DVLA that is not only efficient and technologically advanced but also reflective of the values of service, respect and national pride.

His tenure is expected to mark the beginning of a new era-one defined by collaboration, innovation and a renewed commitment to making the DVLA a world-class institution that serves the Ghanaian public with excellence in line with President John Mahama's resetting Ghana agenda.
