NDC Regional Chair Elected to Represent Ahafo Region on Council of State

Goaso: Mr Yaw Okyere, the Ahafo Regional Chair of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was elected as the Member of the Council of State for the Region on Tuesday. In an election organised and supervised by the Electoral Commission at Goaso, the regional capital, Mr Okyere secured six votes to beat his keen contender, Mr Abraam Agyemang, who garnered four votes out of the 12 votes cast.

According to Ghana News Agency, the election, which took place at the Goaso Pastoral Center, saw eight candidates vying for the position. The process recorded two rejected ballots. Prior to the elections, Mr Okyere appealed to the delegates to support his candidacy, emphasizing his commitment to representing and advancing the development of the region.

The other contestants in the election included Bukari Zakari Anaba, Kwabea Appeagyei, Sir Shai Agyemang, Brobbey Nkrumah, Yvonne Opoku Kwarteng, and Barima Twireko.
