NCCE Engages Political Party Youth Activists at Gushegu on Peaceful Coexistence.


Gushegu: The Gushegu Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged political party youth activists in the area, as part of efforts to promote peaceful coexistence before the polls on Saturday. The initiative aimed to foster harmony among political groups and encourage inter-faith tolerance, while also addressing the challenges of misinformation and disinformation.

According to Ghana News Agency, the event was part of the Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism project, funded by the European Union. It brought together youth activists from various political parties, including the New Patriotic Party, National Democratic Congress, Convention People’s Party, People’s National Convention, and the New Force. The engagement also included persons living with disabilities, religious leaders, security agencies, youth, and women groups.

During the event, Mr. Awal Abdul Mugis, the Gushegu Municipal Director of NCCE, highlighted the importance of tolerance among participant
s to promote national unity, stability, and development. He called on the youth and other stakeholders to contribute to maintaining the good image of the municipality.

Abubakari Abdul Somed, the Gushegu Municipal Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, emphasized that violence was not in the state’s interest and encouraged community members to embrace peaceful coexistence. Daniel Ediemi, the Gushegu District Police Commander, advised the youth to avoid violence and intimidation, urging community members and traditional authorities to proactively resolve disputes.
