Boinzan Chief Appeals to Regional Minister for Forest Reserve Protection

Sefwi-Bonzain: Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, Chief of Sefwi-Bonzain in the Juaboso district of the Western North Region, has appealed to the Western North Regional minister and other stakeholders to help protect forest reserves in the area from illegal loggers.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Ofori Ahenkan, who is also the Kontihene for the Wiawso traditional council, expressed concern that the Shuhyen and Agyimadiem Forest were on the verge of collapse and needed immediate action to restore them for future generations.

The traditional ruler made these remarks during a courtesy call by the Regional Minister, Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, and officials from the Western North Regional Coordinating Council, as part of the minister's familiarization tour of the region. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the issue of illegal logging and called for a halt to such activities.

Mr. Brentum acknowledged the problem of encroachers in the forest and assured that he would take necessary measures to stop them and their activities. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Regional Coordinating Council and traditional authorities to foster development in the region.

The Regional Minister's tour included visits to Aowin, Suaman, and Bodi districts.
