NCCE Engages Faith-Based Groups in Karaga for Peaceful Elections.

Karaga: The Karaga District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged faith-based groups in the area to promote religious tolerance and peaceful elections. Officials of the NCCE, supported by some Executive members of the Inter-party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) in the area, visited various faith-based groups, including Nlaalaa Fong Central Mosque, Assemblies of God Church, Roman Catholic Church, and leadership of political parties, as well as religious leaders of Muslims and Christians in Karaga town for the engagement.According to Ghana News Agency, the topics discussed during the engagements included money in politics, misinformation, disinformation, religious tolerance, and electoral violence. Mr. Mahama Osman, Karaga District Director of NCCE, emphasized during the separate engagements that it was not good for anyone to allow their conscience to be bought or influenced by money to vote in a certain way. He spoke against misinformation and disinformation and urged the co mmunity members to stop engaging in such acts as they could create chaos, which was not in the interest of the country.Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr. Peter Adjei, Karaga District Police Commander and Deputy Chairman of IPDC in the District, explained that engaging in misinformation and disinformation was an offence, hence the need for all to stop engaging in such acts. Catechist Peter Baba and Reverend Joseph Kofi, who spoke on religious tolerance, encouraged religious leaders to see one another as brothers and continue to preach peace to their followers as they were all serving one God.Mr. Owusu Meshach, Karaga District Director of the Electoral Commission, appealed to various groups in the area to obey the electoral rules and regulations and seek clarification when in doubt.
