NCCE Director Urges Ghanaians to Choose Leaders Beyond Tribal and Religious Lines.

Berekum: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on voters to prioritize competencies and integrity over tribal, ethnic, religious, and gender affiliations when casting their ballots on December 7. Madam Adiza Gyenyenaa, the Berekum West District Director of the NCCE, emphasized this directive as a fundamental approach to advancing national development.According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Gyenyenaa criticized vote buying as detrimental to the country's democratic growth and urged voters to resist such practices. Highlighting the importance of informed decision-making, she referenced the 1992 Constitution, which prohibits exchanging votes for money, and encouraged citizens to protect their electoral rights during a parliamentary dialogue organized by the Commission in Jinijini, the district capital.The dialogue provided a platform for the two parliamentary candidates in the constituency, Dr. Kwaku Agyenim-Boateng of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr. Dickson Kyere Duah of the Nati onal Democratic Congress (NDC), to present their visions to the constituents. The event aimed to promote issue-based campaigns, political tolerance, and sustained peace before, during, and after the elections.Madam Gyenyenaa urged voters to exercise their franchise, reinforcing that governmental authority stems from the people's sovereignty. She stressed that participation in the electoral process is vital for maintaining constitutional rule and national sovereignty, as mandated by the 1992 Constitution.Dr. Agyenim-Boateng, the incumbent MP, assured voters of continued infrastructural improvements, pledging to address road conditions in deprived communities if re-elected. Meanwhile, Mr. Duah highlighted the constituency's developmental needs, promising scholarships for students and agricultural support for local farmers. Both candidates commended the NCCE for facilitating the dialogue, which allowed them to outline their plans in sectors such as education, employment, health, roads, and the economy.
