NCCE Calls for Peaceful Election and Contest of Ideas in Awutu-Senya.

Awutu Bereku: Mr. Victor Brobbey, Deputy Chairman, Finance and Administration of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), has emphasized that Ghana needs a contest of ideas and peaceful elections, and nothing else.According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Brobbey made these remarks while speaking to the media on the sidelines of a four-hour event titled 'Parliamentary Candidate's Dialogue'. This program was organized by the Awutu-Senya directorate of the commission at Awutu Bereku. He urged all stakeholders to avoid actions that could lead to chaos during the upcoming polls.The forum provided an opportunity for the electorate to engage with Madam Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya Constituency and the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was the sole candidate present. The event saw participation from civil society organizations, youth groups, NDC party members, assembly members, religious leaders, drivers, market women, a nd farmers.Moderators addressed various topics including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and socio-economic development, which are of significant concern to Ghanaian voters. Mr. Brobbey noted that historically, Awutu-Senya West has been classified as an election hotspot, and he expressed hope that this reputation would improve.Madam Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, while accounting for her stewardship, shared her vision, ideas, and plans for development in the area. She emphasized her ongoing efforts to improve the constituency and promised further commitment to development if re-elected. Her plans include establishing a Nursing Training College, upgrading senior high schools to category 'B', and creating more skill training centers.She reiterated the importance of maintaining a conflict-free environment before, during, and after the elections, and expressed hope that her opponents would also prioritize peace. She highlighted the critical need for free, fair, and transparent elections, urging cau tion in actions that might escalate tensions.Mr. Cephas Kofi Agboadoa, Awutu-Senya District Director of the Commission, addressed the gathering, explaining the purpose of the dialogue. He stated that it was part of the NCCE's efforts to provide a platform for candidates to interact with constituents and present their visions, enabling voters to make informed decisions.He stressed the importance of unity regardless of the election outcome and discouraged allowing politicians to disrupt the area's peace. He urged the community to continue enjoying peaceful coexistence and work together to make Awutu-Senya West a better place.Some community members expressed satisfaction with Madam Tetteh-Agbotui's responses during the event and hoped for her victory in the upcoming elections.
